You are not alone! We have a lot of fearful dogs in Singapore.

You can have a fearful dog due to many reasons. Some are lack of socialisation during the vital puppy fear stages. Sometimes it’s due to a traumatic experience of a rescue/shelter dog or it may even be genetic.

 

Unfortunately I have found that a lot of people are given bad advice on how best to deal with fearful dogs. Advice like just ignore the behaviour so you are not rewarding it. Force the dog into a scary situation so it can learn to deal with it.

Allow your dog to run and hide away from the world.

The suggestion above will never work and more often than not will actually make the fear worse.
